Below are many of KI’s offerings. Use the contact us form below for more information and to hear about how we might customize our services for your community.
KI Associates can support your congregation or organization as you seek new leadership through your process of discernment in many ways.
Gracious Leadership is the ability to use skills, tools, models, and processes to create gracious environments that Kaleidoscope Institute calls the “Grace Margin.” In these environments, mutually respectful relationships are developed that enable the community to discern the truth across differences. Differences can be racial/ethnic, age, gender, sexual orientation, class, political affiliation, or just church members and folks in the neighborhood.
Stewardship365 is an online or on-site curriculum that empowers local congregations to expand their vision of stewardship beyond money to include the currencies of relationship, truth, wellness, gracious leadership, time and place. Through this process, participants will create a year-around stewardship movement enabling the congregation to shift from maintenance to mission, from scarcity to abundance and from fear to grace.
KI engages a Process for Planned Change format which can also be applied to any type of congregational transformation: declining membership, reaching a growth plateau, a congregation-wide long-range planning and renewal process, or any situation where the congregation seem "stuck."
This skills workshop helps participants learn how to approach one-on-one conversations around difficult topics so that a more productive conversation might be possible. Our goal is not so much changing people’s minds, but creating a space where we can share what matters to us while honoring our deeply held truths, and the deeply held truths of our conversation partner.
Writing a Gracious Invitation is a key part of the Kaleidoscope Institute gracious leadership training. A gracious invitation takes into account the potential “fears” that people have when receiving an invitation to a church event. The Gracious Invitation process helps the planners to find the language that will lessen the fear while being truthful to what the event is about.
In these workshops we will explore Jesus’ response to the powerful and the powerless as we journey toward Gospel living together. What is God calling us to do, to be, and to change in response to the powers of this world? How do we create space for grace, both for ourselves and our communities? As we explore these questions together we will also learn tools and resources for nurturing gracious conversations in our communities.
The Building Bridges Now dialogue sessions are intended to be a cohesive conversation program inviting participants to commit to recurring sessions covering topics such as Race and Children, Race and Privilege, Black Lives Matter, Race and Immigration, Stop and Frisk, Stand Your Ground, etc.
Building Bridges Now is a carefully designed and ever-expanding resource that empowers Kaleidoscope-trained moderators to create courageous environments and encourage honest sharing of individuals’ diverse opinions, perspectives and experiences. The emphasis on listening to understand each person’s contribution to the topic being addressed can feel counter cultural in an environment that values a debate.
Mutual Ministry Review (MMR) is a facilitated process that enables congregations and organizations to reflect on and strengthen their work by discovering and learning from their gifts, strength, struggles and challenges; strengthening and sometimes recovering relationships and leadership network; understanding the impact of their history, and exploring future opportunities.
This 12-hour dialogue workshop is designed to help us embrace and enact the vision of Becoming Beloved Community, which is a lifelong spiritual and faith journey. KI believes change happens in the space between comfort and fear – what Eric Law has described as the Grace Margin. All of our programs are designed to follow KI’s Respectful Communication guidelines and to create space for constructive relationship building where individuals can grow.
In an increasingly polarized and violent world, there is a need for persons to facilitate reasonable and constructive dialogue about important issues. Imagine being one of those persons who is able to provide gracious time and place for truth seeking dialogue that can achieve non-confrontational mutual understanding.
This training may be used as a step towards KI Facilitator Accreditation if so desired.
In this leadership workshop we will learn and practice the tools to build a more inclusive and participatory community.
This course is regularly offered in Spanish and English. Participation in this course will prepare you to lead KI’s Building Bridges Now Curriculum, creating space for courageous conversations about important issues for our communities.
The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) assesses intercultural competence—the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. The Intercultural Development Inventory is a 50-item questionnaire available online that can be completed in 15–20 minutes. Results of the IDI must be debriefed by a Qualified Administrator.
The Kaleidoscope Institute (KI) has several Qualified Administrators of the IDI who incorporate the teaching and processes of KI in providing group and individual feedback of IDI results. Sessions with groups are typically two hours long. Sessions with individuals usually take one hour. The conversations include time for learning, reflection, and developing an action plan for growth.
